A new Junior Football Club with big ambitions
After the successful launch of the Ashwood Auskick Centre in 2011 the time is right to launch the Ashwood Junior Football Club after a 20 year hiatus. The club has reformed and will be entering an Under 9’s (Tackers) team for the 2012 season to compete in the South Metro Junior Football League (formally the Moorabbin Saints Junior Football League . The 2012 season commences on Sunday April 15th with home and away games on Sunday mornings. Home games will be at Essex Heights Reserve, Ashwood which has fantastic facilities, including change and social rooms, and great city views.
The club has been formed by a committed group of parents to give kids in the Ashwood area and beyond the chance to play football with their mates and to make some new friends along the way. Following the ethos that ‘many hands make light work’ parents, other family members and friends are all encouraged to be involved to ensure a fun and safe environment is created and maintained. The club will be looking to grow quickly and expand the number of teams as early as season 2013.
Age: Boys and girls under 9 years of age from Jan 1st 2012 and must turn 7 years of age prior to January 1 2012. Tackers is a great way to start serious footy with no scoring (not officially anyway), ladder or finals and other modified rules in place to ease the kids in.
The AJFC is receiving great support from the Ashwood Sports Club and will be aligned to the Ashwood Senior Football Club playing in the Southern Football League.
Training: One training session will be held prior to the first game but no further stand alone sessions will be held during the season. Players are encouraged to register and attend Ashwood Auskick on Saturday mornings for regular sessions conducted by the Tackers coaching panel.
